Most mining algorithms (like Kaspa's KHeavyHash) are designed to be GPU- or ASIC-friendly. RandomX does the opposite on purpose: it uses random code execution and memory-hard operations that map naturally onto general-purpose CPU architecture, while running inefficiently on GPUs and being effectively impossible to build a dedicated ASIC for. The Monero project chose this deliberately, to keep mining accessible on ordinary hardware rather than favoring whoever can afford specialized rigs.
If you're deciding how to mine Monero, don't buy a GPU for it — a mid-to-high-end desktop CPU you might already own is more efficient and usually cheaper.
