How pool distribution is estimated
Pool share is derived from recent block history: each block is attributed to the pool that signed it, then expressed as a percentage of blocks found over the sample window. It approximates hash rate share rather than measuring it directly, and short windows overstate whichever pool has run lucky.
Why pool concentration matters
A single pool holding more than 51% of an algorithm's hash rate can, in principle, reorganise that chain. Spreading hash rate across smaller pools is the standard mitigation, and most miners can switch pools without changing any hardware.
