About Dogecoin Mining

Dogecoin (DOGE) launched in 2013 and shares Litecoin's Scrypt algorithm. Since 2014, Dogecoin has allowed merged mining (AuxPoW) with Litecoin — almost no one mines DOGE on its own anymore, since merge-mining earns both coins for the same electricity cost.

Dogecoin's block reward has been fixed at 10,000 DOGE per block since 2015 — unlike Bitcoin and Litecoin, it doesn't halve on a schedule, which keeps issuance predictable.

FAQ

Can you mine Dogecoin on its own?
Almost no one does — nearly all DOGE mining happens as merged mining with Litecoin.

Does Dogecoin's reward halve?
No, it's been fixed at 10,000 DOGE per block since 2015.

What algorithm does Dogecoin use?
Scrypt — same as Litecoin, enabling merged mining between the two.
